One fall each by Melandri and Guintoli in the two day test.

The Aprilia Racing Team and their rider duo Marco Melandri and Sylvain Guintoli successfully completed the two day official test at Portimao’s Autodromo do Algarve yesterday. Blessed by perfect weather conditions, the two riders put in a significant number of laps and kept working on both and new settings for their Aprilia RSV4 Factory machines.

Each of them had a spectacular crash during the test, from which they both escaped without any major injury. Guintoli ended up with the second quickest lap-time of the test (1’42.954), whilst Melandri recorded a personal best of 1’43.315.

The team will work on the data gathered during the two days in order to be ready for the next round, which takes place after the summer break at Jerez de la Frontera on September 5-7.

The Aprilia Racing Manager Romano Albesiano commented: “It’s been an interesting two day test development wise. We gathered a big amount of data about different setups and electronic strategies and also managed to explore new configurations, which were quite different compared to the ones we used during the race weekends. Those gave us some interesting results, so we enter the summer break confident of having done a step forward for the final part of the season.”
